Sarah Petroski is a rockstar. I’ve had the pleasure of knowing her since 2005 – we met at the Sundance Film Festival where we were both working on separate films and snowboarding. She left an indelible impression then and we reunited in 2007 when I started training her. She was a natural on the training floor – her athletic background as a snowboarder and advanced yoga practitioner shone through. During our training, she was at a crossroads with her career and asked for my advice. I knew fitness was her passion and thought she would make an amazing fitness professional and suggested she consider that. Sarah is now a nationally recognized personal trainer, yoga instructor and fitness model that has graced the insides of many coveted magazines and fitness books. But what makes Sarah so unique, is actually not her professional accomplishments, accolades and very diverse athletic background…it’s her indelible personality. If you have the fortune of meeting her or getting your tail kicked by her on the training floor or yoga mat, you’ll know exactly what I mean.

As a marketing professional in New York, my crazy work schedule often prevented me from being focused during my workouts…I would just do some cardio or take a class and go home, never really pushing myself. Now that I train with Sarah twice a week that problem has been solved. Sarah does an amazing job of pushing me to work harder, but in a completely positive way, always believing that I can do more and encouraging me along the way. She keeps me focused and interested in my workouts by incorporating things I love (like yoga) into more traditional strength and conditioning circuits. I worked with Sarah in the months leading up to and through the 8th month of my pregnancy. Her approach kept me interested in my workouts, and never bored. I liked that she was always prepared with a plan that she wrote up specific to my needs. The work we did together kept me feeling full of energy, which was especially great late in my pregnancy. She always let me listen to my body but she still pushed me to work hard. The workouts that Sarah planned really helped me to physically and mentally prepare for childbirth.
